Water, limestone and salt
In Kazakhstan, the annual consumption of soda ash is about 400 thousand tons. At the same time, there is no own production, and the entire volume is covered by imports from Russia and Uzbekistan.
The construction of the plant in the Aral region of the Kyzylorda region is aimed at solving priority socio-economic tasks and developing the domestic industry.
The plant is planned to be built according to the turnkey EPC contract model with fixed parameters in terms of time, cost, capacity and product quality.
This plant will become a cluster-forming enterprise not only in the region, but throughout the Republic as a whole, and will also give impetus to the development ofindustry, in which soda ash is one of the most important raw materials.
The Specialized Design Institute of the State Institution «Niochim» (Ukraine) has developed a feasibility study for a plant with a capacity of 200 thousand tons per year.
An updated feasibility study has been prepared based on the results of additional market analysis. The design capacity of the plant has been increased to 300 thousand tons per year.
The tender documentation has been prepared and the draft EPC contract has been developed.
A tender was held to select an EPC contractor with the participation of leading international companies included in the ENR Top 250 rating. A competition was held to select a project management consultant (PMC).
«AralSoda» LLP is the owner of three licenses for deposits:
Water. In order to use groundwater to provide the Plant with technical water supply, AralSoda LLP obtained a license for geological exploration of the subsoil No. 29-GIN (PV) dated February 28, 2020 (License for exploration with further production of industrial water to provide the plant being designed).
Limestone. For the purpose of raw material security of the project, the company received license No. 39-EL dated February 12, 2019 for the exploration of the Tulegensayskoye limestone deposit (Aktobe region). During the use of the license for the Tulegensayskoye deposit, work was carried out to approve reserves in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the initial stage of operation of the plant, in order to reduce capital costs, it is planned to use limestone from the operating Utegenskoye deposit (Aktobe region).
Salt. In order to additionally provide production with table salt, the company received a license for the exploration of solid minerals 1232-EL dated February 22, 2021 and 1251-EL dated February 24, 2021 Inder.
In addition to the license for the exploration of table salt on Lake Inder, the parent company of AralSoda LLP, Araltuz JSC, has a valid license for the extraction of table salt at the Zhaksykylysh deposit. Araltuz JSC is the largest manufacturer of technical and edible table salt in the Republic of Kazakhstan with more than 90 years of experience.
